MIDDLE ATLANTIC SECTION
Welcome !
ASEE is the premier organization devoted to the promotion of Engineering Education. The Middle Atlantic Section dates back to 1942 when the organization was named Society for the Promotion of Engineering Education (SPEE) and it carries on with the tradition of transforming the Engineering teaching and learning process.

The Section covers a broad geographic area, including New York City area, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC to mid-State Pennsylvania. We encourage new and old members to support our activities, especially our fall and spring conferences.

Also, as some of you may know I write monthly columns titled Dr. Z’s Corner and tirelessly tell students of all ages why a career in engineering is interesting and fun. Engineering involves a lifetime of continuous learning to adapt to changes in society and the natural world. It often involves working in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, multi-site teams. It is a very worthwhile profession, and the results can be incredibly satisfying.

Engineers use models provided by science combined with innovative thinking to solve problems and create new designs that benefit humanity.  Albert Einstein once said, “Scientists investigate that which already is; but Engineers create that which has never been”. It is “Science” that describes electromagnetic radiation, but it is “Engineering ” that builds a radio or TV. Many of the so-called “wonders of modern Science” are really wonders of modern Engineering.

If you would like to become more involved with our Section the executive committee invites you to join us at our Executive Committee meeting on Friday, April 12. We are open to new ideas to promote excellence in engineering science and technology education in the Middle Atlantic Section.

We look forward to your participation at our Spring Zone 1 Conference on April 11-13, 2019, at The University at Buffalo.  (SUNY)  Please view the  information below.
